Local SEO that gets you found in the suburbs you work

When someone nearby searches for what you do, Google shows a map with a handful of businesses, then a list of websites. Local SEO is the work that puts you in both. I explain it in plain English, do the parts that need doing, and never promise a ranking nobody controls.

The map results

Why the map matters so much

Search for something like “electrician near me” and you'll usually see a map with a few businesses at the top, before any websites. Plenty of people choose from those few.

Those places come from Google Business Profiles, not websites. So the profile is normally the first job: no website gets you onto that map without one.

Your website fills the list underneath, and it's what people check before they call. The profile and the site need to tell the same story.

Illustration of a typical local search: the map results sit above the websites.
What moves it

Four things that decide where you show up

No secret setting: local rankings mostly come down to these four, done properly and kept up.

Measuring it

How you'll know it's working

  • Search Console

Google's free tool for site owners shows which searches you appear in, and how often people click.

  • Your profile's own numbers

Your Google Business Profile counts the calls, direction requests and website visits from your listing.

  • Real enquiries

Only forms that actually sent are counted, so you judge the work on enquiries, not visits.

  • A plain-English report

What I changed, what it did and what's next, written for you, not for another SEO person.

Pricing

What's included, and where

Local SEO isn't one fixed package, so here's exactly what comes with what.

How it works

Where I start, and what comes next

  1. See where you stand

Where you show up today, for the searches that bring work, in the areas you care about.

  2. Fix the foundations

Your Google profile, then your details everywhere, then your site's pages, including how fast they load on a phone.

  3. Keep it moving

Reviews, real local content and regular small fixes. Steady work beats one big push.

How a website build runs is on how I work.

Questions

Local SEO, answered honestly

How long does local SEO take to work?

Fixing your Google profile can make a difference within weeks. Climbing for competitive searches usually takes months, depending on your competitors and reviews. Anyone who gives you an exact date is guessing.

Do I need a Google Business Profile if I work from home?

Yes. Set it up as a service-area business and hide your home address. You list the areas you travel to instead, and your street stays private.

Should I have a page for every suburb?

No. Make a page for a place when you've got something real to put on it: jobs, photos, local details. A few strong pages beat dozens that only change the suburb name.

Will you guarantee I'll be on page one?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Google decides rankings, and the map also depends on where the searcher is standing. What I can promise is the work: done properly and measured honestly.

Do you run Google Ads as well?

Yes. Ads can bring calls while the free results build up. I check existing accounts with Metads, my own grading tool, and count a lead only when an enquiry actually sends.

Can I do some of this myself?

Absolutely. You can set up your Google profile and ask for reviews today. I'll show you how, and take on the parts you'd rather not.
